1.8 System Design

The Fuellox system is designed to switch on/off a 12V pump. There is an expansion module that caters to 24V and 240V pumps. Where a pump is powered by other means a reliable design is needed to actuate the pump for Fuellox to implement secure authorisations. There are 2 possible ways to do this. An operatorcan actuate the pump itself, or actuate a valve on the outlet of the pump.

Actuating the PumpLink

1.8.1 PneumaticsLink

Implement a 12V solenoid to actuate the air supply to the pump. This is the simplest form of control.

1.8.2 HydraulicsLink

Modification of any vehicle’s on board hydraulics has significant safety implications and must be assessed by an expert. The performance of hydraulic brakes and/or attachments can be affected due to poor installation or design. The reliability of the equipment, and operator safety can be compromised due to poor installation design. When safe to do so use a high pressure 12V solenoid on the hydraulic power to the pump. This would typically be a 2 position, 3 port valve.

1.8.3 ElectricLink

Fuellox can safely switch a 12V relay of approximately 30 amps peak load. Where alternative electrical requirements exist contactor's and/or relays need to be installed. Consult an electrician for further advise.

1.8.4 Actuating a ValveLink

Installation of a valve/solenoid on the dispense point is quite often the simplest method for installation. However there are considerations for recirculation and thermal relief that must be considered. High volume pumps may need to include a ramp up ramp down valve.

1.8.5 Actuating the PTOLink

In some cases it may be possible to switch the PTO. Be aware the other systems that operate from the PTO will be unavailable unless Fuellox is in its ‘authorised’ state. If a employee needs to operate a hose reel for instance, as soon as Fuellox shuts down the PTO the hose reel has no power.
